Homeschooling 101: Get to Know Your Children
Updated: May 14, 2019
As a homeschooling family, one of the best things to remember is that each of your children are different. They each have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. This may drive you up the wall as you try to develop a learning schedule that crosses multiple age groups. But, you must get to know them in order to properly instruct them.
That takes spending time with them.
No... we do not know our children just because we are their parents or because we are now their teachers. This only happens through spending the kind of time with them that becomes cherished memories. So, here’s one way that we got to know our kids and helped our kids to better understand us and our motives... we set aside special times each quarter to invest time and money into whatever it was that each individual child was interested in.
It was the start of helping them find and commit to their Godly purposes. We made it a point to genuinely celebrate each child's uniqueness, at these times, as a family. It has carried straight through into their adult lives with resounding success.
